Product Description
This is obviously not a Tillandsia. It’s commonly known as the ant plant. These are sold bareroot. Best if treated as a house plant and grown indoors if temperatures go below 65 degrees F. High temperatures are needed to match its natural habitat conditions.. It thrives within a night/day range of low 20°s to low 30°s (C). Requires consistently moist soil; do not let dry out between waterings. The prickly, swollen stems develop natural hollows which are invaded by the golden ant (Iridomyrmex cordatus) in a symbiotic arrangement (in the wild, the ants wont come into your home to seek out this plant, LOL). The ants patrol the plant, removing leaf-eaters, while their excreta is absorbed by the plant for nutrition. Size available is similar to the larger plant in the pictures.
