We have a 65-acre organic run farm in Iowa, Louisiana. Our goal is to build a diversified farm producing meats, eggs, and vegetables. We are building a teaching farm. We want the farm to provide an educational and interactive learning opportunity for individuals who are curious about food, farming and the culinary arts. We also want to help other growers become better stewards of the land. We want to help build knowledge of how land-use practices can benefit, be in harmony, or negatively impact ecological cycles, and your neighbor’s land as well. We want to show by examples how a fundamental understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a farmer in our natural system. How we can build up biological fertility in our soil by maximizing biodiversity aboveground. How we can help protect our soil by limiting soil disturbance and planting cover crops. It is our turn at the Earth’s stewardship, and we are responsible for leaving it in better shape than we found it.
