Product Description
Tillandsia nidus is a naturally occurring hybrid between Tillandsia fasciculata and Tillandsia ionantha. It is a popular air plant known for its unique appearance and relatively easy care.
Appearance:
Size: Typically ranges from medium to large for an air plant, often around 10-12 inches in length when mature. Â
Leaves: Long, slender, and slightly curved, growing in a dense rosette pattern. The leaves are usually silvery-green, but some varieties can have a more bronze or reddish hue.
Shape: Long and slender, upright growth habit.
Flowers: When it blooms, the upper leaves blush red, and it produces a short, compound inflorescence with purple tubular flowers. Â
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Can tolerate some direct sunlight, but avoid intense, prolonged exposure.
Water: Like most air plants, Tillandsia nidus absorbs water through its leaves. It should be misted or dunked in water every 1-2 weeks, allowing it to dry completely afterward.
Temperature: Thrives temperatures ranging from 60-90 degrees F. It tolerated lows as low as 34 but tends to stop growing when night temps get around 48.
Humidity: Tolerates average humidity levels but benefits from occasional misting or placement in a slightly more humid environment.
